Album Introduction

Unlike today's practice of rated performance, early Baroque music emphasized the improvisation of performance.
John Porter, a former vocalist of the Hillard Ensemble, and his group The Dowland Project restored the tradition of early Baroque improvisation, following their hit album Let me live in the dark.
They show their imagination and freedom in songs with Madrigals such as Purcell, Montevert, Chipriano da Llore, and Robert Johnson, creating exquisite music that coexists with the past and the present.
Both early music fans and modern music fans will be fascinated by the intense lyricism and rich melody of this album.
